This sketch, by Victor Hugo would have been the first picture if I'd known how to find it. Thanks, Ariel.

It started so slow, I sat back ready to enjoy, then bang, so many things happened in a rush... My head is spinning.

"And the fires he’d built from sage, silence and friction."

Wow!

Ariel, the writing went that way, too.

But the guy in THE OXBOW INCIDENT was innocent.

Doug The Una said...

Absolutely, Hobbes and you're just the person who could have helped me this morning. When I was a child, my mother had a book of reproductions by impressionists. The one that impressed me I remember being by Victor Hugo and it was of a man being hanged. I ran google images to death this morning trying to find it but I don't remember the title. Any ideas? Such as: I dreamt it?

I'm sorry, no clue. Mrs. Weirsdo and I always thought Victor Hugo was a novelist.

Doug The Una said...

Well, yeah. But genius can't always be contained in one medium, for instance, a violist who also poses stuffed animals.

Here. I had no idea he had drawings, either. They are not at all bad.

Genius violist is kind of an oxymoron. We're all violinists.

Wow, Ariel! Thank you!

Weirsdo, genius and scold go together?

Ariel the Thief said...

You're welcome!

I am NOT a scold! Boy, if I could just give you a piece of my (genius) mind . . .
Just kidding--about violists too.
The sketch is a great find.
