Good story, though lacking in DEFINITION. . . .
Fortunate that neither brother had heard of Ruy Lopez suggestion that one should always position the board so that the sun is in the opponent's eyes.

My grandfather thought 6 steps ahead much to the displeasure of my grandmother.

I really didn't think the women will take any man trick to be distracted from wedding plans. :-)
